A Place to Live The Life

Tiskita Jungle Lodge is one of the best-kept secrets in Costa Rica. It's a small-scale, family-run ecolodge that offers you the opportunity to experience the pristine tropical rainforest in its 800-acre private biological reserve. This area is one of the “hottest hotspots” of biodiversity in the world with over 275 species of birds and a myriad of other wildlife. The lodge has an organic orchard with over 125 types of tropical fruit.

Tiskita now offers 17 rooms in total. The cabins are screened-in with a ceiling fan, orthopaedic mattresses, bathroom with hot water and a shaded deck with lounge chairs and hammocks. Most rooms have views on the ocean between the trees. There are standard cabins sleeping 2, family cabins for up to 4 people and 2 very private suite cabins with the largest rooms and ocean views.

The main lodge and swimming pool is situated between the cabins. There are an open-air dining area and self-service bar. There is free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, tropical fruit juice and filtered water all day long. At the restaurant, the staff prepares traditional Costa Rican and western dishes. Here you can enjoy the sounds of the wildlife and ocean, there is no music. There is free wifi in the main lodge but because of the location, the speed is limited.

Tiskita is about as remote as one can get, located at the end of the road on the secluded southwest coast of Costa Rica. Still, the famous Pavones town and wave is only about 7 kilometres away. You won't have to go to Pavones to surf though, as Punta Banco has 2 excellent beach breaks right out front of the lodge, excellent for beginners and experienced surfers, with little to no other surfers around.

Besides surfing, there is lots more to do. Like hiking, joining a nature or night tour, birdwatching, horseback riding, snorkelling or boating. In the games room, you can play ping-pong, chess and foosball. Or try a painting class. Tiskita has an amazing yoga deck, surrounded by rainforest and with views of the ocean through the gaps. It doesn’t get better than this for peace of mind and tranquillity.

As an ecolodge, Tiskita has the policy to minimise its impact on the environment in every way possible. They started a non-profit, the Tiskita Foundation, to help protect the Golfo Dulce area. The Tiskita Foundation has supported a sea turtle restoration program, a Scarlet Macaw reintroduction project, and various community development projects. If you stay at Tiskita you will support these causes and can experience the real Costa Rica.
